De Volksabdij is located in the beautiful area in between Antwerp and Bergen op Zoom, near the village of Ossendrecht. This area is called the Brabantse Wal and it owns its name to the clear division between clay and sand soils. This creates a diverse landscape: woods and polders, sand and clay soil and mud flats and salt marshes. The Mattemburgh and Wouwse Plantage country estates, the nature area Het Markiezaat, sluices, the castle Ravenhof and many other sights can be found in this area. Because of its central location there are many possibilities for interesting day trips. Bergen op Zoom is only 15 minutes away, it is only 30 minutes by car to Antwerp and the seashore of the province of Zeeland.
