The city of Appingedam is more than a thousand years old. You'll find many impressive monuments like the Nicolaļ-church and the ancient City Hall. Certainly a must are the The City Museum and the famous 'hanging kitchens' built above the river 'Damsterdiep'. Nearby Appingedam you can visit many medieval churches in several typical Groninger villages. Some churches have famous organs. Within 3 miles we have a lake 'Schildmeer' with facilities for all kinds of water sports.

In the heart of the city of Appingedam, next to the tower and the Nicolaļ-church, is the 'Het Wapen van Leiden'. It is a well-known hotel with 28 comfortable rooms, equipped with toilet, shower, colour-TV and telephone.
